Research

The Department of Research at Kingsbridge is dedicated to advancing entrepreneurial knowledge, fostering innovation, and addressing global and local challenges through cutting-edge research in business, sustainability, and emerging technologies. By integrating applied research into the institute’s academic and industry ecosystems, the department will:

  • Conduct Applied Research in Entrepreneurship: Lead studies on entrepreneurial ecosystems, startup success factors, and SME development in Sri Lanka, producing actionable insights to enhance student learning (e.g., informing Diploma in Entrepreneurship curricula, 30 credits, SLQF Level 3).
  • Support Sustainable Business Solutions: Investigate sustainable business models, green technologies, and social impact strategies, aligning with global trends (e.g., UN SDGs) and local needs (e.g., addressing Sri Lanka’s <1.5% entrepreneurship rate, per Daily FT).
  • Foster Industry and Academic Partnerships: Collaborate with European universities (e.g., HEC Paris, Bocconi) and local incubators (e.g., SLASSCOM) to co-develop research projects, ensuring global relevance and industry alignment.
  • Enhance Student and Faculty Research: Guide students and faculty in research-driven projects (e.g., capstone projects in Advanced Diploma in Startup Management, 30 credits, SLQF Level 4) and publish findings to build credibility.
  • Drive Thought Leadership and Policy Impact: Publish reports, host conferences, and advise policymakers on entrepreneurship and sustainability, positioning the institute as a leader in Colombo’s higher education market.
  • Support Startup Incubation: Provide data-driven insights and mentorship to student startups, facilitating access to venture capital and fostering economic growth.
